Jewelry + Care 101

We’re so glad you’re here! Our handcrafted enamel jewelry is made with care, creativity, and a whole lot of love. We’ve gathered some of the most common questions our customers ask to help you learn more about our materials, care tips, customization options, and more. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out — we’re always happy to help!

1. What is the jewelry made of, and does it tarnish, rust, or oxidize?
All of our jewelry is handcrafted from hand-cut brass, plated in 24K gold, hand-painted with enamel, and finished with a protective coating to preserve its color and integrity. The studs are set on surgical steel posts for comfort and durability, while the fish hooks are brass plated with 24K gold.
• With proper care, our jewelry will not rust or tarnish. However, exposure to air, moisture, and body chemistry can cause natural oxidation over time. This is a normal reaction and can vary depending on how each person wears and maintains their jewelry.

2. Can I shower with it or wear it to the beach?
• It's okay to shower with the jewelry occasionally, but be sure to dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth and store it in a protective pouch or case afterward.
• We don’t recommend wearing it in the ocean — seawater is highly corrosive and can damage the finish over time. To keep your jewelry looking its best, it’s best to avoid beach and saltwater exposure.

3. Can kids wear Miss Modi?
Miss Modi jewelry is designed for adults and older kids — we love seeing little fans, but our pieces aren’t meant for children under 6.

If you’re gifting Miss Modi to a young fan, we recommend adult supervision to ensure they’re ready for delicate jewelry.

4. Jewelry Care
To maintain the beauty and longevity of your Miss Modi jewelry, please follow these care tips:

• Handle gently and avoid bending any connection points to maintain the piece’s shape and strength.
• Do not use silver polishing cloths, as they may damage the gold plating.
• Keep away from chemicals such as perfumes, lotions, or sprays.
• Remove jewelry before entering salty, chlorinated, or sulfur-rich environments like the ocean, pools, or hot springs.
• After wear, rinse gently with clean water, pat dry with a soft cloth, let it air dry completely, and store it in a protective pouch or jewelry case.

5. Can I buy a single stud?
All of our earrings are sold as pairs. If you'd like to mix and match, feel free to order two different designs to create your own unique set!

6. Can I mix and match?
Yes! You’re welcome to mix and match designs within the same collection. If you’d like to combine pieces from different collections, just reach out to us at info@missmodi.com — we’re happy to help!

7. Do you offer custom designs?
Yes! We offer custom design services for bulk or wholesale orders, with a minimum of 200 units per design. You can supply your own artwork (AI file required), or we can create a design for you for an additional fee. For more information, please contact us at info@missmodi.com.

8. Handcrafted Quality & Natural Variations
All of our jewelry pieces are handcrafted by our talented metalsmith and artisan team. As with all handmade items, slight variations are part of their charm and not considered defects. Below are examples of acceptable variations:

Minor Color Overflow: Each piece is hand-painted using a small syringe. Due to the intricacy of our designs, small impurities, uneven paint flow, or minor overflow may occur. These are normal and not considered flaws.

Normal Wear & Oxidation: Gold-plated jewelry may oxidize over time when exposed to air or sweat. This is a natural process and not a defect. With proper care, our jewelry can last up to three years. Always rinse gently, pat dry, and store in a protective case.

Surface Scratches: Minor scratches, small bumps, or slight paint drops may occur during transit due to contact between pieces. These are considered normal and not defects.

Bent Studs: We use hypoallergenic 304 stainless steel for our earring posts. Slight bending during shipping or handling is common and can usually be adjusted by hand.

Color Variations: Due to the handcrafted nature of our products and differences in screen displays, the actual color, hue, or tone may vary slightly from what is shown online.

Size Variations: Measurements are approximate. Because each piece is handmade, a variation of 1/8” to 1/4” in size may occur.

We appreciate your understanding and support of artisan-made jewelry!
